  1. That wasn't an offroad test. I could drive there in almost any stock hatchback.

  2. I noticed you decided,to skate over the durability and build quality concerns I raised. Both these cars are meant to be able to take quite a bit of punishment. The cayenne will take a pulverizing beating and keep going, in the range rover, however, you will start noticing a whole collection of new squeaks and rattles on the way home from your offroad excursion. Also reliability statistics for the cayenne are a lot better. As for the money, you get what you pay for, with a high retained value.

  3. The Range Rover has a proper off road transfer case (two speeds), the cayenne doesn't. That alone would a huge difference between the off road capability between the two. However, the Sport also has a softer suspension with more travel and a more advanced and dynamic 4WD system when in comes to off roading.
So in other words, the Porsche Cayenne is at least as good off road in the same way the Range Rover Sport is at least as good on road. The Sport is also a lot cheaper.

  6. The real contest should be which car breaks down first before the finish line

  7. Please do not bring up Jap crap here. They do not belong with the German/UK big boys.

  8. The Road track tested the limits of each to show how good the porsche was but you never took them to the off road limits. Thus you didnt see the Range Rover at it's best.

  12. Hmmm, they can both go through a muddy puddle that's all of a few inches deep. Wow.

  15. Neither used off road? Straight from a person who knows nothing about people who own such cars. Duck hunting in the muck, wildlife photography in deep sand, muddy slopes, or dried up stream beds (tough to get a car into many of them), etc.. If you don't own one and can't afford such cars, don't present to understand the demographic that buys them. I wouldn't buy the Rover until their poor workmanship & design comes full circle.
