How street ready are you? With so much debate and confusion surrounding the issue of street vs. sport jiu-jitsu, Ryron and Rener sit down for a very candid t...
Is it an ok street technique to remember you have the rhino and comb the hair approaches to closing distance with a striker but to skip grappling and practice (in theory) a standard boxing/karate with feet not as wide protecting head from knockout and ready to protect ribs then diaphragm just to be ready in case the clinch is broken and/or straight armed to a hook or combo series. Not sure if that is an accurate description
Neither of these guys fight mma, only sport and teaching. renner even said it. Go see Orlando Sanchez if you want a person who actually fights MMA, he may not be the end all, be he puts it to the tests and is a boss..
A lot of stuff in BJJ help in a street fight. If you find yourself that you'll ever need street defense, try asking your coach/instructor/sensei what you do in street fights.
A couple of punches - his hand went up, and I put him in the bent armlock. The fight was broken up because I'm pretty sure I broke his arm. He probably outweighed me by 30-40 lbs. I probably was only punched like 3 times. If we learn anything from real fights is that the easiest time to get knocked out is when your trying to knock someone out by choosing to use my jiu jitsu I was saved from an ass whooping. And ended the fight in a non lethal matter. Jiu jitsu is life.
I've been is endless street fights all my life, and I know never to curl up on the floor. You must continue to try and get up no matter what. A target that continually moves is harder to hit. Infact, I've got to my feet many times and ran away. But believe me; no situation in the street can be planned for. Every situation is so different and unique. And don't ever take for granted, your opponent won't see this or understand that. You'd be surprised what street fighters can do.
With you with your back on the floor and them kicking you in the head. If your not experienced in GJJ or do not know the proper technique you'll probably just curl up and let them kick you till they're tired. Ground is common. In fact to common to be ignored - and with Real Jiu jitsu He won't see whats coming. I've been in one street fight in my life - a white belt in GJJ - me and this guy had in altercation that resulting in a fight, I went for the takedown pass his gaurd - mount - I threw
Thats a fair reply. But strikes are best delivered standing up. The thing to do (if possible) is to stay on your feet, and use strikes standing up. No matter what Martial Art one knows, once your on the ground, anyone is vunreble.
Typically you wouldn't pull gaurd or want to be on your Back in street fight. But it's such a common position to be in because usually the assailant is bigger and stronger than you. It's a technique that must be learned for a street fight scenario. if someone bites a Experienced GJJ practitioner I'm sure he won't just lay there, he'll probably answer back with huge strikes or an eye gauge. Than he'll break his arm or choke. If your fighting multiple oppents chaos will happen typically resulting
Someone on top bitting would be hard to put a sleep or break something before serious biting had taken it's toll. The ground must be avoided at all costs in real street situations. However, i know that can not always be the case. Also, most street fighters will normally be accompanied by others. Being on the flaw in them situations could be fatal.
How would you reach his groin if he has you in a rear naked choke? I don't think it's possible unless your Mr Fantastic. what's stopping the guy from turning the RNC to a full mount and giving you the worst pounding of your life?
I do traditional okinawan karate and im gonna say right now. BJJ is great in the cage and probably the best grappling system out there. BUT, if i was on the street and some punk came up and took me to the ground and got me in a Rear Naked Choke, im going straight for his groin and twisting until there is nothing left to twist. Then we will see how far he gets with that choke... Some might call that unfair but i call it Traditional Martial arts. Brazilian jiu jitsu is not going to save your life.
If he has friends, you are losing regardless. Unless you are master of some kind of striking art, you are done. In a one on one fight, taking somebody down is easily the best thing IF you know what you are doing. Because 99% of people have no training in grappling, so you can dominate them on the ground. Stand up is much more unpredictable than on the ground.
WC is one of the few stylews in the world that has absolutley nothing to offer any1...boxers punch better...all other kungfus kick better, thais kick, knee, elbow better, kali ect trap better but trapping only works on idiots anyway..all grappling styles grapple better...So the world of fighters is puzzeled as to what WC can actually do..they cant show us even 1 fighter making it work against any1 skilled....
lol well in all fairness wing chun has it's place and it has been proven to be effective. no need to dis wing chun although I agree. a pure wing chun fighter may be at a disadvantage against a goo grappler. but it is great against strikers. a combination of wing chun and grappling would be superb.
fit the internet troll aren't you tired of having multiple accounts, lying behind people's back and your past and have your own friends here say your all lies and make up stuff to get attention??? Didn't you admit when I pressed you that you got beat by a wing Chun man?? Aren't you the same retard that says you had 100 streets fights only that they were not on the street but scuffles by the door because your a door man?? Didn't you admit that you can't even teach how to carry a piss bucket??
you are 58...we found you on facebook.......you look more like 68 with with your 1 floppy bit of greasy hair comb over style...& you thick rimmed dated train spotters specs..apart from your size 4 xxl , so your a fat old train spotter....listed on your employment section...it said "un-employed"...meaning your a sad old fart who sits on your arse playing on youtube ..talking about how you trained when you went to your 1 only class in the 70s...weve seen the proof of who you are : old fart

ОтветитьУдалитьBitting doesn't end fights it just escalates them.
He's lucky the guy on top didnt bite his nose off. Whats the Gracie counter to bitting?

ОтветитьУдалитьStreet fighting is chaotic, unpredictable and "plans" dont work like they do on your gym.
ОтветитьУдалитьIt's survival, pure and simple.
Taking your agressor to the ground as your 1st option is a mistake, IMHO.
Not only because the ground is a hostile enviroment, but also because sometimes the guy has friends, who will kick your head like a soccer ball.
Like they said: one thing is jiu jitsu as a sport, the other is jiu jitsu on a survival situation (and sometimes against more than one opponent).
