  5. Nolan Ryan was faster.. they measure the speed at a different distance now (out of the hand), than they did then (close to the plate). Using today's technology, Ryan would've been near 110.

In his appearance last night where he struck out the side and got the save, he hit 103 once, 102 twice, 99/100/101 eight times, and four other pitches that weren't fastballs (courtesy of watching the whole half-inning on MLB.com). He can still get up to 104/105 if he's well rested, but he's usually not-so-well rested, being an MLB relief pitcher and all.
